FIRST FRIDAY HIKE

January 7, 1 PM to 2:30 PM, No Fee

Start the new year with a hike (or snowshoe tour, depending on trail conditions) with Deer Pond Farm volunteers, Mary Ann and Allison for fresh air, exercise and good company. Different trails and routes taken each month. The pace for this hike is more than a walk, less than a run!

BIRDING WALK

January 19, 10 AM to 12:00PM

Winter is the perfect time of year to get out and look for birds at Deer Pond Farm! We will review various bird adaptations and ways they manage to survive this demanding season when food and cover are in short supply.  We will also discuss the importance of habitat diversity for supporting wildlife throughout the seasons.  An eBird.org checklist will be copleted on this guided program.

WILDLIFE IN WINTER

January 29, 10AM to 12:00PM

Even in the middle of winter, there is still plenty of wildlife to see and learn about here at Deer Pond Farm. Conservation biologist Jim Arrigoni will point out evidence of different wildlife species while discussing the strategies that plants and animals depend on to survive New England winters.
